RE: Bad Food... and such small portions....

That DOES take some guts to complain about the food and then ask for takeout boxes!
We do know a couple that complain about the food EVERY time we've gone out to eat with them. They ALWAYS send one of their plates back because it isn't prepared "properly". And we're sure they do it hoping to get their meals free or discounted. It takes all kinds I guess.
BTW, if you leave Cracker Barrel hungry, it's your own fault.

RE: This was just weird.....WEIRD!!!

I wonder what they enjoy doing to u'r food.
They better not be doing anything with his food. The guy was in line in front of him, NOT behind the counter.
BTW, I wouldn't hire anybody looking like that either. Of course, they probably wouldn't be looking for a "job" in the first place.

RE: Pepe's in the RGV

I "think" it's open however, there's lots of construction going on in the area on the levee system, making it harder to get there. I'll check it out next week, I'm just getting settled in here in Mission so I haven't had time to get there yet.

RE: Dirt Track Racing....

Evernham will still be involved with cup racing. Buying tracks is the new thing for cup crew members and drivers. Stewart, wallace and several others own tracks now.
Yep, I know that however, he says he's through. I find it hard to believe also. I've known Ray personally since 1985 when I first got involved with Nascar and he was actually working for Jay Signore at IROC.
"Evernham said he has already sold off most of his interest in the Gillett-Evernham Motorsports race team and is ending his career with NASCAR. “I want to get back into grassroots racing,” he told the gathering of area community leaders and businesspeople.

RE: Dirt Track Racing....

Great pic's Willy! Gotta love that "turn right to go left".
BTW, did you see that Ray Evernham is selling his interest in GEM Motorsports and buying a 3/8th's mile dirt track?? Quite a change from Cup racing.

RE: St. Louis to Port Aransas

I'm not grey'eagle but....I can give you a place. Buffalo RV park. It's actually closer to Oakwood than Buffalo. It's nothing special, but it works for us. The "transient" sites only have water/elec, but that's all we need while enroute to/from the RGV. Big rig friendly, easy in/easy out.
We've stayed there several times.

RE: Golf Ball Question

I play quite a bit, and "typically" shoot in the mid 70's. One of my playing buddies let me try a "cheap" ball last year and that's all I'll use now. It's a Top Flite D2 Feel. They will spin almost as good as a Titlest ProV1, and they're $14.95(15 ball pack) at WalMart as opposed to about $40 for the Titlest(1 doz). In fact, this morning, one of my playing partners asked what kind of ball I was playing since I put so much spin on it, stopping it on VERY hard greens.
I participate on a SERIOUS golf forum, and many of the "big guns" on there use these Top Flites. About 5 years ago, you couldn't pay those guys to hit a Top Flite.
As for your game, spend your money on lessons, NOT expensive balls. Until you've got a grooved swing, the most expensive ball in the world ain't gonna help.

RE: Electric Razors for Men - Input Please

I've only used electrics for 40 years. The "secret" is using some kind of powder for lubrication, so the shaver doesn't drag on your skin. I've used plain old baby powder for many years, and it works fine.
Oh...I've always used Norelco shavers.

RE: St. Louis to Port Aransas

To save several miles, take US69 south at Big Cabin, Oklahoma off of I44/Will Rogers Tpke. This will save you going all the way to Tulsa. Then you can get on the Indian Nation Tpke at McAllister and on south to Hugo, Paris, etc and on south on Tx19.
I just got to south Texas yesterday coming this route.

Also...what Grey'Eagle said. The man KNOWS Texas highways and has never steered me wrong.
We just arrived in the RGV today, and have used his routing the last 3 years.

RE: Insects Flying/Crawly RGV

The mouse problem here in the southwest part of Mission last year was short lived. They were completely gone by the time we left in early April.
Have been back here since early October and have not seen one mouse anywhere...think last year was just an anomoly! We're down at the end of Bentsen Palm Drive just before the State Park and just past Seven Oaks off of Military...No Problem!
Just got back down here today. Talked to several others here in Seven Oaks, and they said the same thing. Lets hope last year was an anomoly.

RE: US69 in Ok

Update-here's the deal. There were a couple of rough sections(like another poster mentioned)just south of I44/Will Rogers Tpke. The really bad part around Lake Eufaula has been worked on obviously. Still a little bouncy in places, but nothing like I remember from the last time. Several sections(like Shirley mentioned)have been planed, making them very nice driving.
So...bottom line, I'll be driving US69 south until it goes to pot again in the future.

RE: Happy Thanksgiving from your mod.

Back at ya Ron & Sue.
We got to the RGV this afternoon, and after setting up the rig and all that, we decided we were hungry on THANKSGIVING! So....we ended up at Stars since it was about the only thing open. Since we were eating leftover turkey all the way down, the DW said she wasn't eating any more of it for awhile.
Oh well...just glad to be back in "the valley". I KNOW the hamburger we got at Stars doesn't compare to Gonzales burgers but...it was good, none the less.

Thanks guys/gals. I think we might give it a go again just to see. It's shorter by taking that route and hopefully, the shaving has helped.

RE: US69 in Ok

Sharon, how is 71 south of Ft. Smith? It looks pretty crooked on the map. I thought I might be able to make better time by going the Indian Nation Tpke.
I do have a buddy that went that way, and said it was an OK route.

RE: Arkansas to Texas

I would also do the I540 down to I40, then west on I40 to the Indian Nation Turnpike, south to McAllister and pick up US69/75 and on to Dallas. Then I45 south to Conroe.
By taking the Indian Nation Tpke, you'll bypass a VERY rough section of US69 around Lake Eufaula.
I'm heading south to the RGV tomorrow, and taking basically the same route from SW Mo. However, I'm going to take 2 lanes once I get into Texas. I'll use Tx19, US79, US77, US271. I LOVE the Texas 2 lanes. Some of the best roads in the country.

RE: Do many of you snowbird in a TT?

Many people snowbird in TT's and are just as happy as those in other rigs. Motorhomes and 5ers do outnumber TT's, but it's just personal preference.
As long as you're in the south and warm, it doesn't make any difference what you're in! Just come on down and enjoy it with the rest of us.

Bill, I was actually looking at your route as well. I just didn't know about the US271 part to Poteau.
Yep, we're staying at Seven Oaks again...however, we will be looking at things over in your park as well to see what's for sale/rent.
Hope to see you guys in January when you get back.

The thought of a Gonzales burger and onion rings will make it all worthwhile.
Trip, you've got that right!! That WILL make it all worthwhile, rough roads and all.
